Yes! You can use this site FREE as an individual. That's because changing the world is FREE! You don't have to be a politician, an ex-President, a world leader, a philanthropist, an inventor or an activist to change the world. And you don't need lots of time, money or energy. Nor do you need to attend any retreats, rides or rallies. To change the world, just change yourself. To change yourself, just change how you see the world. We invite you to use this site as a vehicle for changing how you see the world .. and as a result, changing the world!

How did this site come about?
The inspiration for this site came from the handbook/parable "Yes, You Can Change the World," by Aman Motwane. This is the story of a young man, who like most of us, doesn't realize how simple and easy it is to make a difference in the world. Those who read early copies of the book, before it was published (as well as its predecessor, "The Power of Wisdom," also by Aman Motwane), kept asking for a way to practice the simple but powerful perspectives revealed in the book. We put on our thinking caps and this site is the result. We hope you'll use this site to practice making a difference in this world.

Almost all social networking sites are about hooking up with other people strictly for personal gain or fun. That's where they stop. This site aims to reach much higher. It aims to change the world!
The amazing thing is that when you aim to change the world, you will change your world as well. That's because the two go hand in hand, as you will soon discover once you start using the web site.

The emphasis of this web site is on simplicity. Its goal is to encourage you to write messages that are so compelling that the recipient brightens up and then, wants to continue the chain. If you are looking for bells and whistles to dress up your page, this web site is not for you.

Is it possible for me to receive your e-newletters less frequently or even never?
Certainly. With this web site you have complete control over whether you receive our periodic e-newsletters and/or notices. We send these out to inspire you and your friends to continue sending ripples on a regular basis. Our goal is to uplift the lives of as many people as possible. Our hope is that you will find our e-newsletters inspiring. However, you have the final say. Just go to Edit/Enhance My Profile from your Home page after you've logged in and change your Contact Frequency. This feature allows you control on what frequency or whether you wish to receive newsletters and notices from us. Please do not respond to our e-newsletters with "unsubscribe" or "remove" or anything similar because this could could cause unnecessary delays in incorporating such requests. You should be aware that it is also possible that such e-mail requests could be blocked by spam blockers and thus, never reach us. Just change the Contact Frequency and your request will be immediately incorporated.

I try to join the site but it says my username or email is already in the system.
The most likely reason you're getting this error message is that someone from the site has already sent you a ripple. When someone sends you a ripple, and you are not already a registered member of the site, they must enter some preliminary information about you, such as your name and your e-mail address (Your e-mail address is protected by our Privacy Policy). This information is necessary so we can notify you, via e-mail, that a ripple is waiting for you. It is also necessary so we can identify you and take you to your ripple as soon as you have completed the registration process. Our e-mail to you includes your password. If you didn't receive our e-mail it is probably because it went to your junk or spam folder. If you can't find this e-mail, you can still gain access to the site. Simply click on Forgot your password and follow the procedure to get a new password e-mailed to you. Within a few minutes, the e-mail with your new password should show up. Be sure to check both your in box and your junk folder.

We are a couple and we have only one e-mail address. One of us registered on your site, but now it won't allow the other one to register saying the e-mail address is already on the system. What do we do?
Like almost all systems and web sites, our site uses your e-mail address as the key to recognize you. As such, there can only be one registration per e-mail.
If you want two of you with the same e-mail address, put both your names in the Name field. For example, "Roger and Mary."
If you want to send individual ripples, sign each ripple individually at the end. For example, "Love Mary."
Your friends can also send ripples for one of you to your common registration. All they'd have to do is address it individually. For example, "Dear Roger." Return to Top

How exactly do I send out ripples (messages) to others?
Sending out a ripple (message) is as easy as writing an e-mail.
- Each time you log in, you will arrive at your own Home page. This is a page designated to you. You can always return to this page by clicking "Home." On the left side of your Home page, you'll see information about you. On the right side, you'll see the ripples (or messages) you've sent and received.
- To send out a ripple (or message), click on "Send More Ripples" under the banner "Ripples I've sent."
- This will take you to the Search page. Go ahead and search whether the person to whom you wish to send a ripple is already on our Network.
- On the Search Results page, if you see the person you're seeking, click on "Write" next to that person's information. You will then be taken to a simple page where you can write him/her a compelling message. Try it. It's incredibly easy.
- If you don't see the person you're seeking on the Search Results page, make sure your Search Criteria were correct. Your Search Criteria appear on the left of the page. Click on "Search Again" at the bottom of the Search Criteria if you wish to refine your Search.
- If the person to whom you wish to send a riple is not on the network, click on "Person not in the network, invite them" near the bottom of the page. You will then be taken to a page where you will be asked to provide some basic information about this person and then, you can write him/her a compelling message. This, too, is as easy as sending an e-mail. Go ahead and give it a try!

How do I see how far my ripples have gone?
This web site is about sending ripples to others that are so compelling that they are then inspired to send out ripples of their own. In this way, as the ripples build and multiply, we can make the world a better place. Just imagine the possibilities! If you send uplifting messages to just 9 people ... and each of those 9 send messages to 9 others ... and each of those continue the ripple to the next 9 ... by the time you're just 10 tiers deep, you will have brought light and joy into the lives of over 3.4 billion people. That's over half the people on the planet! You can easily see how far your ripples have reached:
- Each time you log in, you will arrive at your own Home page. This is a page designated to you. You can always return to this page by clicking "Home." On the left side of your Home page, you'll see information about you. On the right side, you'll see the ripples (or messages) you've sent and received.
- To see the ripples you've sent simply click on any of the messages under the banner "Ripples I've sent" on the right hand side of the page.
- This will take you to a page that will show you the full message you wrote.
- On this very same page, under the person's picture, you'll see his/her name and then, a button which says "See June's ripples." assuming your friend's name is June. Click on this button.
- This will take you to your friend's page and you'll be able to see the ripples he/she has sent. Look under the banner "Ripples I've sent" on the right hand side of the page.
- Click on any of the people to whom your friend has written, and once again, you'll read the full message your friend wrote along with a button just as before which says, "See John's ripples" assuming the name of your friend's friend is John.
- In this way, keep repeating the process and you'll see how far your one simple ripple has spread.
- Now, go back to your Home page by clicking on "Home" and repeat the same process to see how far one of your other ripples to another friend has spread.
- If your ripples are not spreading far enough, ask yourself how to make your ripples more compelling and more inspiring.

Why are all the messages available for everybody to read?
We believe in celebrating people. You can't exactly celebrate somebody by keeping it private.
Also, we want others to read your messages and feel inspired to write similar messages of their own. This is why we encourage you to make each message you write as compelling as possible. Remember, you will not just change the life of the person to whom you're writing. You'll be changing the lives of people you don't even know!

Why is it important that I write my message to others on this web site? Can't I just express it in person?
There are two very important reasons for writing down your message to others on this web site:
- It is very important that your message be compelling enough so that the other person feels inspired to continue the chain of changing the world. Writing is the best way to practice this. Writing focuses your mind. When you write, you can re-read it a couple of times to make sure it will create the most powerful effect. In person, if you make a mistake, or if you're not compelling enough, there's no going back. So, use this web site to write, practice, learn, grow. You will be amazed at how this process transforms your face-to-face interactions.
- Writing on this web site is also a great way to immortalize the other person ... a great way to celebrate them in front of the rest of the world ... a great way to celebrate them into perpetuity.

How exactly do I get my photo and ripple in the spotlight of the "Log In" page?
We periodically select messages our members have written to:
- Spotlight on our Log In page under the banner "In the Spotlight."
- Syndicate to media (radio, TV, print)
- Spotlight in our weekly e-mail newsletters to our members.
To qualify for any of these spots, you must meet the following criteria as a minimum:
- You must have uploaded your picture.
- The person to whom you sent your ripple must also have uploaded his/her picture.
- And your message must be a powerful inspiration to others to spread many more ripples.
From among those who meet this minimum criteria, our judges will periodically select the ripples we will spotlight. Of course, the decision of our judges is final and may not be contested.Please do not solicit us to pick your message. This might disqualify you.
So, be sure to write in such a way that you touch hearts! And remind all the people to whom you've written to upload their pictures.

How exactly do I get my banner atop the message pages?
Whether you're a not-for-profit or a for-profit organization, you can benefit greatly by letting the world know that you stand for changing the world. These days, people have a proclivity for seeking out organizations that are making a difference in the world. The best way to do this is to sponsor this effort to send out ripples to the world. When you become a sponsor, your banner will appear atop specially-targeted pages on this web site. When people see your banner, they will see the role your organization played in making a difference in their lives. This will bring you two major benefits:
- The reader will know that you are an organization dedicated to making the world a better place.
- You will reach people who are from a demographic similar to your current constituents.
Non-Profit organizations can become sponsors at no charge. For-profit organizations and individuals can become sponsors for a very nominal set-up service fee.
